The Castleberry Hill Arts District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, represents the largest warehouse district still surviving in the City of Atlanta. Located four blocks from the Georgia Dome, Centennial Park, and GWCC, Castleberry Hill is one of 230 communities that define the City of Atlanta.
Castleberry Hill was named after Daniel Castleberry, an early settler who won land lot 84 in the lottery of 1821. Today, Castleberry Hill contains the largest and best concentrated remnant of old railroad buildings in Atlanta. The railway defines street and building patterns as it cuts through Castleberry, and the early 20th-century commercial and industrial structures form continuous frontages at the street and railway lines, giving the area a distinctive urban look.
"I chose this area for its character," Benjamin Krause of Krause Gallery said. "I had an idea of what it was going to be and I went for it and I love it.” Learn more about Castleberry Hill
